چکیده

Abstract Medicago L. (Fabaceae; Papillionoidae) has high nutritive value, palatability, and ability to improve the soil fertility which puts it as one of world’s most important forages. genetic resources are suffering from anthropogenic destructions, overgrazing, climate change drought. Using results a previous gap analysis, prioritized species sites for in situ ex conservation, this study aims undertake conservation activities priority annual Lebanese species. Accessions target were collected, multiplied, characterized conserved at Genebank The International Center Agricultural Research Dry Areas (ICARDA). Based on characterization data, morphological diversity assessment is carried out analyse phenotypic variability pattern relation with environmental conditions collection sites. analysis 26 characters applied 19 collected shown significant 13 characters. polymorpha Chwaifat, M. Back into the wild—Apply untapped genetic diversity of wild relatives for crop improvement

Deleterious effects of climate change and human activities, as well as diverse environmental stresses, present critical challenges to food production and the maintenance of natural diversity. These challenges may be met by the development of novel crop varieties with increased biotic or abiotic resistance that enables them to thrive in marginal lands. However, considering the diverse interactio...

Investigation of Diversity of Different Agronomic and Morphological Traits in Wild Wheat Relatives

Extended Abstract Introduction and Objective: Wild relatives of wheat are one of the most important genetic resources for use in wheat breeding programs. Therefore, identifying wheat wild relatives and Awareness of the diversity in them, also protecting these species is undeniably effective in expanding the richness of the gene pool and the genetic base of new cultivars and can be a good tool ...

Enhancing the Conservation of Crop Wild Relatives in England

Humans require resilient, rapidly renewable and sustainable supplies of food and many other plant-derived supplies. However, the combined effects of climate change and population growth compromise the provision of these supplies particularly in respect to global food security. Crop wild relatives (CWR) contain higher genetic diversity than crops and harbour traits that can improve crop resilien...
